I almost met my match with this assignment. Ironic that it was on a week when I'm processing the "digital natives, digital immigrants" debate. Had a wonderful discussion recorded with 5 of my students. Assumed--I know, I know about assuming--that when something is recorded it's saved. If you have a question about it, I'll tell you. It's not. I've had many a "save issue" since I took my Brother word processor to college in 1990. You'd think I'd learn, wouldn't you?

Anyway, below is plan B, using my sisters, each with their unique link to technology in education. Enjoy!

  1. I can relate...every time I thought I was getting close, I'd discover I had another step to take before I could get the podcast up and running. I have to admit I really enjoyed using Audacity to edit the interview once I finally got it recorded and spent far too much time tweaking it. My students were very excited about being my guinea pigs as I ventured into this new territory. We had a lot of fun with the interview--hope you and your sister did too.

  2. Deb,
I know exactly what you mean about assuming! I tried not to assume anything with this assignment. I tried so hard to complete the podcast during week 4, but it was too hectic for me, and then when week 5 rolled around I was on break and my computer went down-in fact it is still down. I tried going to friends, the library, using my brother's iphone, everything and I couldn't accomplish the feat! This will be the first time this occurred, but I guess I shouldn't have assumed my computer was going to work. Verizon said it may not be up and running until the 8th of April! Now I am back at work, but it's a dollar short and a day late. So I know what you mean about assuming. Your podcast sounds great! You had a terrific plan B!

  3. Debb! I am impressed. My plan B was a total flop. I think we should add a how too step by itty-bitty step in the process of making a podcast on our wiki page! I sure could use a blow by blow guide to refer to and it would be a great place to send our students when they get an assignment that requires a podcast! I tried to do my podcast using two very different computers which (I was not up to that) and audacity didn't work for me because it embedded a sound mark every ten seconds in mine so I couldn't use it once I saved it! Did it work for you or did you use something else?

  4. Jenn,
I did use audacity. That sound mark thing is weird. A blow by blow account on our wiki would be great! I was also thinking about kicking it old school, and maybe including a list of professional books. Aaahhhh, paper, binding, something I can touch.
